Media tastings are not reviews, but they are a great way for me to learn more about full menu offerings, dish updates, and special events from our local restaurants. Media tasting invitations are not accepted unless a restaurant has had a full review already published on Feasting Fort Collins.
Media tastings are uploaded on Feasting Fort Collins Instagram during (or shortly after) the event, so be sure to follow me on there for the sneak peek before it hits the blog. We have beautiful gallery post capabilities, so they’ll end up here later if you’re not on Instagram. You can click on the image to enlarge the photo and see menu descriptions.
Door 222 (formerly Next Door Food and Drink) in Loveland celebrated their 4th anniversary last night with a sold-out pairing dinner featuring Montinore Estate wines. Proceeds from the dinner were given to Project Self-Sufficiency – a non-profit organization dedicated to helping single parents achieve financial independence. It’s an organization near and dear to their hearts as many of the service staff have been in the working single parent shoes. That actually goes for the restaurant industry as a whole.
The wonderful thing about this celebration (in my eyes) was that Door 222 is living proof that outstanding food and dining experiences can thrive in our Northern Colorado community. We’re not destined to stay trapped in burgers, pizza, and beer if the community truly supports our higher-end creative restaurants. And we have with Door 222 – from their name change, to patronage during the year, and attendance at special events.
The menu pairings were absolutely excellent, and anything that Chef Matt Smith creates is a winner of a dish. The 3rd course with crispy duck confit in fois gras emulsion was a classic Chef Matt-syle dish highlighting his experience in French cuisine. And the panna cotta from Pastry Chef Brooke Burtard had a wonderful silky texture (along with the best panna cotta jiggle).
Cheers to everyone at Door 222 for their 4th year of creating deliciousness in Loveland!
